Manifesto inscena la quotidianità passiva e repressiva dei presidi militari. La presenza militare è visivamente e idealmente decontestualizzata, per essere invece ricollocata in un ambiente totalmente inappropriato che non richiede tale presenza. L’arma porta con sé dubbi, paure e la possibilità che qualcosa accada, spingendo lo spettatore a mettere in discussione la propria sicurezza. La presenza militare decontestualizzata prende forza dall’ambiente in cui si svolge l’azione. I “soldati” cambiano posizione a intervalli regolari di 20 minuti, seguendo così l’intera area messa a disposizione. Ogni nuovo luogo, con nuove caratteristiche fisiche e spaziali, plasma l’interazione mutevole tra i soldati e i cittadini comuni ignari della finzione.

Manifesto stages the passive and repressive quotidianity of military garrisons. The military presence is visually and ideally decontextualized, to be instead relocated to a totally inappropriate environment that does not require such a presence. The weapon brings with it doubts, fears, and the possibility of something happening, prompting the viewer to question his or her own safety. The decontextualized military presence takes strength from the environment in which the action takes place. The “soldiers” change positions at regular 20-minute intervals, thus covering the entire area provided. Each new loca tion, with new physical and spatial characteristics, shapes the changing interaction between the soldiers and ordinary citizens unaware of the fiction.
