No so simple in describing or make some rational sense of the work of Gabriele Provenzano. But lets forget rational and lets look at single images as electric shock that stimulate some physical and mental response in the viewer.
Is impossible to describe Provenzano practices works except is Provenzano works. In a world of full of anesthesia and amnesia saturation practice via images that world we live is giving to us humans the work of Provenzano does the opposite. Provenzano as become a master of this and it does make it look easy and almost banal but this is the strengths of his works with a mix of cyni cism and dare to cross the line with his work and the images it serve us, they can bring different emotion response from the banal, the silly to the sick but he at least is having fun at least it seems even if in a nervous way.
But is not about fun at all this is an artist that wants you to make you feel a live and wants you to respond in any way you can and he is ready to risk and accept the consequences whatever they may be.
Someone may call him an agent provocateur, I define him an artist that wants to engage and be part of the works he makes and not make pretty decorable wall paper or coffee table decoration but works that challenges the space and the ‘‘public’’ and at the same time challenging himself and I really hope he continues to do so.
