GABRIELE PROVENZANO Gabriele Provenzano (b. 1998), è un artista visivo che attualmente lavora in Italia. Ha studiato grafica d'arte presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze e scultura e arti performative a Torino. Ha approfondito queste discipline con un periodo di studio all'Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Łodzi, in Polonia. Nel corso degli anni ha sviluppato una pratica multidisciplinare che comprende scultura, performance e fotografia. Come artista punta a tradurre l’insieme delle sue esperienze in narrazioni visive e poetiche che servono ad esplorare quello che ama e quello che odia. Assorbe, elabora e crea la forma che ritiene più adatta a rappresentare inevitabilmente il personale, il sociale e l’ambiguo. Il suo lavoro più recente spesso include metafore basate sull'interspecismo contemporaneo ed archeozoologico: crea dei parallelismi con il mondo umano, interrogandosi sui meccanismi relazionali che attuano un processo di appiattimento, omologazione e costrizione dell’individuo e il suo rapporto distopico con gli altri esseri viventi e la natura. Attualmente conta delle mostre in Polonia, Germania e Turchia.

@ Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino, 2024Nati ieri is an installation that focuses on recalling a nostalgic and edgy feeling. The work was conceived as an expanded metaphor fo tr a notebook and/or diary page, where the classic 1cm checkered paper becomes an intricate perceptive pattern made in pencil and able to merge with the other elements, developing in such a length to amplify an episodic and daily narrative. The small elements that invade and complete the gridwork simulate black sketches and doodles, often those at the “edge of the page,” here made alive and three-dimen sional by materials such as black ceramic and used kneaded erasers. The four pages, or sheets, also made of black ceramic, reveal the subject of this tale. Each sheet features a dinosaur and its misfortunes, from sexual violence to death: four dinosaurs for four scenes that aim to disintegrate the myth of the Dinosauria , almost godlike and timeless. All violence is enacted by human hands, in a deviation that places these very contempo rary beings in scenarios as realistic as they are close to real human-animal and human-human behavior. The individual scenes, inspired by current events and experiences of the artist, break the illusion with these reptiles so beloved by children and adults alike, making them equal to every other creature.
